When Peter
R. Emshwiller (“Stoney”) was still knee-high to an irregular
verb, he went to sleep each night to the comforting clickety-clackity
sound of an old Corona manual typewriter whispering through his bedroom
wall. That was his mother, award-winning author Carol Emshwiller, typing
away now that the kids were finally in bed.
Perhaps it was this clickety-clackity chatter of Mom’s
typing that goaded Peter into writing himself. Or maybe it’s why
he has nightmares about giant false teeth chasing him.
Either way, over the years he’s amazed himself
by publishing novels and articles, editing magazines, and writing screenplays.
